Let’s Practice
To begin, try to find a quiet area where you will not be disturbed. (Mindful breathing may occur in stressful places, but you will prefer to learn the skill in the most accessible setting as a beginner).
Sit or stand and consciously relax all parts of your body. Try to ensure no tension remains, other than that needed to keep you upright.
Start to deepen your breaths in and out. At first, please don’t focus on counting; concentrate on making them deeper. Do this for around 30 seconds.
Next, begin to count your breath for a count of 4 seconds consciously. Then hold it for 4 seconds. Then exhale for 4 seconds.
These are some quick tips to spur you forward as you continue to train your mind and your body.
