The Bible gives us words but also gives us life. And those words produce energy. Just like carbohydrates and glucose ultimately produce ATP, those words that we read and memorize have to utilize themselves in action and create action and faith within us. This spiritual food is what makes SPIRITUAL ENERGY.
Spiritual energy can overcome temptation, it can overcome addiction, and it can overcome the devil. Eat the words of life every day. Meditate on it. Digest it, chew it up, and let it sink into the depths of your conscience.
Allow it to bear seed. Allow it to fill you up in every way so that when you release spiritual energy, Heaven has loosed spiritual authority inside of your spirit and presents you the ability to overcome that addiction, the temptation, and that sin.
Testing produces maturity. And when Jesus defeated the temptation from the enemy, the fun was only beginning for him as he finally started his ministry.
That’s why the scriptures say to observe your life and doctrine. That magnifying glass being the Bible. It is the only road map to Heaven, to Jesus, and our salvation. We all know that once we stop looking at a physical map or stop listening to Siri to get us to our destination, it’s only a matter of time before we get lost. Don’t get lost because you refuse to look at the Bible as a guide. Especially when it just lays on your table or your phone.
A depressing thought is that so many people will be on the opposite road to Heaven, and most of them had the Bible app, or a Bible laying on their coffee table, or somewhere in their house but never opened it up to read for themselves. Or perhaps you have only opened it during Christmas service Sundays and Easter service Sundays where someone else read the scriptures to them. God is an active God, and he desires active participants in His divine power.
Matthew 6: 11
“Give us today our daily bread.”
When Jesus taught the disciples how to pray, He said, look, you can’t depend on yourself for spiritual energy. It has to be through the Father. How do we get Spiritual energy? Through prayer. Through merely asking for it.
John 6: 35
“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Matthew 26:26
“While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
Think about the manna that God gave to the Israelites in the Old Testament. Daily they were given this food. How the Old Testament parallels in the New Testament is beautiful.
The Israelites depended on manna to get them through the desert until they reached the promised land. Now, for us, Jesus is that manna. That’s why He says, “I am the bread of life.”
That’s why he breaks down the communion of the bread and juice and compares them to his actual body and blood. He wants us to “eat Him” Spiritually. Jesus is our manna. He is our bread of life until we reach the promised land (Heaven). In other words, we have to go to Him as our source until we die and reach our final destination of Heaven.
John 6: 32-35
32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from Heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from Heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
Your spiritual food needs to be in Jesus. Whether it
is through prayer or eating up every word from the Bible.
If you went without solid food in 3 weeks, you could die. Do you think about your spiritual life in the same way? If you go without spiritual food, how would your spirit feel? The same way as your body, dull, limp, and almost dead.
Nowadays, there is not enough urgency in how we nourish our spiritual souls, and I think this really could be dangerous. It doesn’t take much time for our hearts to become numb and hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Jeremiah 17:9
“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”
There is nothing like eating a full meal and being full and satisfied. However, nothing comes close to how your soul can feel spiritually and eternally satisfied by the bread of life you give it every day.
